L’UMR Dynafor a été créée le 1er janvier 2003 à partir du regroupement de chercheurs et techniciens de l’Unité de Recherche de Toulouse du Département SAD, de l’ensemble des personnels de l’Unité Agroforesterie et Forêt Paysanne du Département EFPA, et d’une équipe de l’ENSAT soit 14 agents.
Elle a été reconduite sur les mêmes bases pour le quadriennal 2007-2011. Au 1er janvier 2007 elle comptait 17 agents et s’est agrandie pour atteindre 30 agents en 2009.
A partir de 2010, Dynafor s’est à nouveau agrandie significativement avec l’arrivée d’une nouvelle composante constituée par 2 équipes de l’école d’ingénieurs de Purpan (EI Purpan) qui a rejoint l’INPT à cette période. Ces 2 équipes représentaient 8 personnes, portant les effectifs permanents de l’UMR à 38 agents.
Suite à plusieurs départs et arrivées durant le contrat en cours, l’unité Dynafor est en 2019 composée de 41 agents.

The Dynafor lab was created on 1 January 2003 from the grouping of researchers and technicians from the Toulouse Research Unit of the SAD Department, all the staff of the Agroforestry and Rural Forest Unit of the EFPA Department, and a team from ENSAT, representing 14 staff.
It has been renewed on the same basis for the 2007-2011 quadrennial. On 1 January 2007 it had 17 employees and expanded to 30 in 2009.
From 2010, Dynafor has expanded significantly again with the arrival of a new component made up of 2 teams from the Purpan Engineering School (EI Purpan) which joined the INPT at that time. These 2 teams represented 8 people, bringing the permanent staff of the UMR to 38 employees.
Following several departures and arrivals during the current contract, the Dynafor unit is composed of 41 agents in 2019.
Les objectifs scientifiques de Dynafor ont évolué dans une logique de continuité au cours des contrats successifs, en tenant compte des évolutions des compétences présentes et des questionnements scientifiques. Ces orientations ont été discutées lors des séminaires d’unité et développées avec le soutien des tutelles et en cohérence avec les bilans des évaluations antérieures. Les objectifs scientifiques de Dynafor étaient en 2003, de développer des recherches sur les dynamiques des formations boisées dans les paysages agricoles, en 2009, de produire des références scientifiques, des outils et des modèles pour l'ingénierie écologique des paysages dans les territoires ruraux, et en 2014, de développer l’agroécologie des territoires agricoles et forestiers.

Dynafor's scientific objectives have evolved in a logic of continuity over the course of successive contracts, taking into account changes in current skills and scientific questions. These guidelines were discussed during the unit seminars and developed with the support of the supervisors and in line with the results of previous evaluations. Dynafor's scientific objectives in 2003 were to develop research on the dynamics of forest formation in agricultural landscapes, in 2009, to produce scientific references, tools and models for ecological landscape engineering in rural territories, and in 2014, to develop agroecology in agricultural and forest territories.
